Rigger

• RIGGING and LIFTING: Riggers prepare, attach, and secure loads to cranes or other lifting equipment, ensuring proper weight distribution and stability.
• EQUIPMENT INSPECTION and MAINTENANCE: They regularly inspect rigging equipment, including slings, shackles, and wire ropes, for wear and tear, ensuring it's safe for use. They also assist with planned maintenance and routine tasks like crane wire rope changes.
• SAFETY COMPLIANCE: Riggers strictly adhere to safety protocols and procedures during all lifting operations. This includes using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety guidelines.
• COMMUNICATION: They use hand signals and/or radios to communicate with crane operators and other team members, ensuring clear coordination during lifting operations.
• LOAD HANDLING: Riggers secure and handle various types of loads, including break bulk, dry bulk, project cargo, and rolling stock, on the offshore platform.
• ASSISTANCE WITH DRILLING AND MAINTENANCE: They may also assist with drilling operations, such as preparing equipment, inspecting pipes, and cleaning up spills.
• DATABASE MANAGEMENT: Some riggers maintain records of lifting plans and risk assessments for the facility.
• EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS: They participate in developing and implementing emergency plans, including confined space entry and rescue plans.
• SCAFFOLDING (if certified): In some cases, riggers may also be involved in the construction of scaffolding structures.

• Be at least 21 years of age,
• Have a minimum of 3 years´s experience,
• Hold a valid certificate of competency. Validity of the certificate shall not exceed three years. Duration of the Training course shall be minimum three days for initial training and two days for refresher,
• Be able to communicate effectively both in writing and oratly in the required languages sufficient for the fulfilment of their function in a safe manner,
• Be physically and medically fit with regard to eyesight, hearing, reflexes, ability to handle lifting gear and equipment. Validity of the medical fitness certificate shall not exceed one year.
