Chemical/Metallurgical Engineer Understudy

Assist the Process Lead with improvements and recommendations to maximise plant operations, utilisation and efficiency with minimal metal losses;
Assist the Process Lead with the development and implementation of a Demonstration;
Plant for material assessment and analysis;
Assist the Process Lead with the establishment and operation of the on-site laboratory for sample preparation, analysis and results interpretation;
Daily trouble shooting and optimisation of the process plant during construction,commissioning and operations;
Develop and update operating procedures, update P&;IDs and create MOCs for process modifications;
Planning and delivery of projects assigned to him/her within specified time and costs, ensuring that all engineering and governance requirements are met;
Issue certificates for the samples when they are of the specified standard.

A BEng/BSc degree or BTech Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering. BSc Hons (Metallurgy/Chemical Eng) an advantage;
Up to 5 years’ experience within a mineral processing, hydrometallurgical or smelting environment, with at least 2 years of experience within a middle management position highly advantageous;
Strong leadership potential and be a team player;
Demonstrate drive, ambition, and a passion for self-development in a challenging work environment on our project in Angola;
Training skills – able to train others;
Production knowledge – understand and maximise production processes;
Equipment knowledge – familiarity with industrial equipment and ability to identify issues;
SHEQ and radiation knowledge – high attention to health, safety and environment procedures;
This role requires a high level of mobility, a driver’s licence is required;
Advanced computer literacy including high proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with experience with production software or process modelling software advantageous;
The ability to communicate in Portuguese and English is required.
